A semi-random observation: when both Rush Limbaugh & the guy that wrote this — a brief consideration that growth for its own sake has the potential to mean socially what it means biologically — get to call themselves “conservative”, it just shows how little those type of labels mean.
The philosophical ideal gist I’ve gotten about Conservatism could be summed up like this:
- Be careful about huge changes
- Smaller social units tend to be more responsible, for obvious reason
- Realize you don’t know everything
Yet the prominent self-described “conservatives” don’t seem to share much common belief beyond “CEOs are a persecuted minority”, “War is good”, & “Anyone who disagrees with me is a potential terrorist”. Exact opposite basically.
